WAHS Tip: Frustrated By Your Work-At-Home Job Search?

Good Afternoon,
I hope this finds you well and that you are not getting frustrated with looking for legitimate work from home jobs. I am still looking for an online job that isn't customer service or on the phone because my youngest is still at home, which of course causes a problem with background noise, but if all of this was done on the internet then that would literally be my dream job. So that you know that I am looking right along side of you and if I do find a job that suits me and I do indeed land it, I am definitely going to let you all know. I do what I do because it is something that is a passion for me. The article I am about to share with you is from Leslie Truex of WAHS, who I admire and trust. This article came in my email this afternoon and I just wanted to share what she had to say about searching for a work at home job. I think that it is very relevant and that if you are at a point where you have all but given up on your search for a work at home position, then this article is right on time. Enjoy and don't give up!

This week's Work-At-Home Success tip offers guidance when your work-at-home job search isn't going as well as you'd like.

Frustrated by Your Work-At-Home Job Search?

I get emails daily from frustrated job hunters who are struggling to find work. I know this frustration, disappointment and stress first hand as I have experienced it as well. Indeed, frustration and disappointment are two of the biggest hurdles struggling work-at-home wannabes face. But there are some things you can do to help deal with the challenges in trying to find a work-at-home job.

1) Have realistic expectations: We live in a society focused on instant gratification, but the odds of deciding to work at home today and actually doing it tomorrow are slim. It can take 6 months to 2 years to find a work-at-home job depending on your skills, experience, and how often you search and apply. Not only do you need to be realistic about the time frame in reaching work-at-home success, but you also need to choose realistic methods. People don't pay the mortgage doing surveys or reading email. Neither do they simply sign up for something and make money. Working at home takes work. Lots of it!

2) Do your research: The best way to develop a realistic expectation related to working at home is to educate yourself about telecommuting. Research will teach you what it takes and how long it takes to really work at home, help you avoid scams, and keep you focused on the right types of activities.

3) Look for opportunities that fit your skills and interests: Too many people look for the fast, quick buck and end up wasting time and money as these opportunities almost always turn out to be scams or deceptive schemes. Instead, make a list of all your skills, experiences, interests and hobbies, and search for jobs that fit what you know how to do. You're more likely to be successful pursuing your passion than the money.

4) Evaluate your efforts: If you aren't getting results from a job search have someone look over your resume, and make sure you are qualified to do the job. If you have the qualifications, make sure your resume articulates that. Increase your chances of getting hired by tailoring your resume to fit each job you apply to.

5) Keep on keeping on: I haven't met anyone that hasn't spent a great deal of time and effort to work at home. The one thing that separates them from others who aren't successful is that they never gave up. They kept on learning about working at home, searching and applying for the right opportunities, and evaluating their efforts until they finally reach their goal.

There is a saying about the only certainties in life are taxes and death. In the work-at-home world, there are some certainties as well and those are that you'll be frustrated and disappointed. But these are temporary if you are able to manage the difficult times and forge ahead towards your goal.

Scam Alert: IRS Underreported Payment Emails

Scam Alert: IRS Underreported Payment Emails

Having a job from home is good but having a home business is even better;0

Good Afternoon Folks,
I just wanted to take a moment to say hi and hope your weekend is productive and that you are getting lots of stuff done. Even though my blog mainly consists of work at home job positions I also wanted to point out the benefits of having a home based business on the side (if financially possible) as well to add to your income stream.
Presently I am also studying to become a medical transcriptionist with CareerStep and really enjoy the flexibility of the program and how it all works. Mind you, it is taking a lot longer than I anticipated, but when you factor in a husband, a toddler and an elementary aged child to the mix it is a bigger challenge. In spite of the length of time this program is taking me, it will obviously be different for another individual who didn't have any responsibiilities except themselves.
Now on to the point I am trying to make, my end goal after completing the program is to incorporate this into a job from home or a medical transcription business. I am undecided about which way to go , but the end result is still a win-win situaiton. With a business I can still call all of the shots and be my own boss and with a job from home you still have money coming in, so you are not constantly trying to keep up. So keep your options open, when looking on my blog for work at home positions because you passion or hobby can be created into an income stream that you love. Consider the possibilities and go for it!
On that note, please take some time to listen to Dan Furman's interview with Leslie Truex about starting a home business.  Good stuff and very timely.

Have an awesome weekend.

Organizing Your Job Search

Good Morning,
I was going to add more to this post, but I think this article says it all. Know what you want when looking for a job and if you really like what you see, start organizing your dream job preferences, that way you won't get too disappointed if things don't fall into place and/or you don't get the job etceteras. Always have a plan B because if Plan A doesn't work out, you want to be able to pick up the pieces and move on to the next goal in finding that ideal job.

Good Luck!

Sincerely,
Mandu

Organizing Your Job Search Most of us are resigned to living life in the fast lane and have accepted our monotonous and robotic routines as normal. There is hardly any time to sit down and plan or organize important issues relating to our general well being or our careers. While the home front may be balanced on account of contributions by other family members, our vocational choices and career path may suffer due to a lack of organization.

Proper Planning

There are a number of ways in which your job search could be organized. Proper planning helps to save on time, energy and precious funds. The following steps should be taken:

-Attempt a career quiz

-Subscribe to newsletters with extensive career classifieds

-Be alert and identify career and internship opportunities

-Identify institutions that could enhance your prospects to meet career goals

-Find out about distance learning opportunities

There are also a number of books available to help with organizing your job search. There are four simple rules that make organizing your job search easier. You should manage your time effectively and conscientiously. All relevant information should be written down systematically and methodically, so that it is easily accessible when needed. You should organize your workspace and get rid of any clutter. Last but not least, you should implement a plan of action that works well for you.

You should space your attempts to identify a job in a way that does not affect your enthusiasm. Schedule your job search activities two hours a day, six days a week. It is essential to take a break to recuperate and recharge, mentally and physically.

Organizing Yourself

You need to update yourself regularly on the kind of competition you are facing in your chosen career. You must constantly analyze your chances, on the basis of your skills and experience and make constant efforts to establish new contacts and widen your network.

Attempting to organize your job search involves keeping track of all information and communications. You should categorize all the information gathered from the very beginning. This enables you to access important details on people and companies, as and when required. It helps to list prospective employers according to the following:

-The size of the organization.

-Its geographical location.

-Potential for your growth within the organization.

You Should Design Your Own Portfolio, Complete With:

-Several copies of your resume.

-Copies of references and letters of recommendation.

-Samples of your experience, like essays, research and published articles.

One of the biggest challenges faced while organizing your job search is to keep to scheduled appointments. All appointments should be logged, to prepare for interviews, and you should make timely follow-up phone calls.

The task of organizing your job search should be conducted professionally, with a methodical approach. You should set your priorities right from the beginning and work towards assessing all the available job opportunities. This will ensure that you narrow down the best offers and finally accept one that provides a good opportunity for you to grow personally and professionally. Interviews Can Be fun If You Know How

Are you Freaked when you have no idea how to act in an interview, whether it is on the phone or in person? Then this article is definitely for you. I remember my first interview in a long time and did everything wrong. So of course I didn't get the job, but the second time around when I researched exactly what type of job I wanted and had what the company wanted, then of course the rest was easily accomplished.
Take your time and read this article, it has some really great tips and may be what clinches that dream job you have been looking for.

Good Luck!

***********************************************************************************

Interviews Can Be Fun - If You Know How! A good interview depends on the ability of the interviewer to get from the candidate all the best information. After all they have to find an excellent candidate to be successful for the role in question.

So together, in that little room where the interview is to be held, it's a dance together to get the right relationship for both to succeed.

Here are some key steps you can take, before during and after the interview to ensure you have the very best opportunity for success!

1. Be clear on the useful experiences you've had and be prepared to share them. Interviewers want to know all about you and your capabilities, so share with them those occasions that you have had successes and why. In advance of this testing experience, if you have the time, set out to gain experiences you'll be able to share, for the value they will create for you.

2. Think about the open questions that are coming. Your interviewer will want to discover things about you, so be prepared for those famous six open questions that will no doubt show up. Questions starting with 'Who', What', 'Where', 'Why', 'When' and 'How', not forgetting about my personal favorite, 'Tell me about...'

3. Whatever you've heard, use 'I' a lot in your answers. There's a bit of a movement in some places to try to leave this key word out. trust me, using 'I' is manna to your interviewers ears, helps them a lot and if you don't, they may wonder just what you aren't saying.

4. When asked be quite frugal - at first! It's tempting, especially when you get asked something you know the answer to, to start with a flourish and end, well, sometime in the future. Beware, your interviewer is human and can only absorb so much. If they are any good, they will be lining up a next question on hearing what you have said. So, take your time, give three relevant and good points within a story about the issue and stop. They will follow up and ask more, if they want or need to.

5. Collect your thoughts for a moment. If you find you have a question that requires a little consideration, ask for a few seconds to gather your thoughts and have a little think! It's quite a good tactic to mix those questions where you need to think with those you respond quickly to. Some of the time, taking your time in such circumstances demonstrates confidence (ironically), capability (takes time with decisions), and courage (in the face of an interview, that's excellent!), so be prepared to use a small wait as a positive step and not a weak one!

6. Build a relationship with your interviewer. If you've had the time beforehand (the 'coffee and introductions' session usually gives you the space), chat casually and in a friendly manner with your interviewer and other assessors. Building a relationship so that your interview is more of a conversation is a valuable skill and can be of value all through any assessment center you are involved in, not to say for future opportunities - if you need them!

7. Ask them something too. Using the relationship and your confident approach means that there will be useful times where you can find out more about the role, the conditions and the workplace. It's a good sign if you feel comfortable enough to do this and asking good 'discovery' questions yourself will make you score well too.

8. However it goes, make a friend. Sometimes, the value you can get in a friendly close, at the end of an interview, has unimaginable value. Those moments where you cement a relationship can make all the difference at those times where you don't have an input (like later in the day when they discuss and compare the candidates) - so make the most of any interaction time you have, even at the end of your interview.

9. Treat it like a chat. The more you can get this interaction like a cosy chat over the fence with a neighbor, the better it will be for you. Your interviewer will have a compliant candidate who ticks all the right boxes and you too will find it easier, because you're in your comfort zone. Not to say you relax too much though - there's focused work to be done. By being relaxed you will ensure that what you need to say come all the more easily to you.

10. Get interviews in context. Though there are often other activities in play when you are being assessed, the interview is a vital component. So getting this right will build your confidence for the whole experience - and that will enable you to show off your full potential as well as the skills you can demonstrate already.

There you go - easy steps in generating the result you want from any interview you need to get involved in. The biggest challenge is treating it as a good, fun experience. With these ideas to help you, don't be surprised if it is just that! (c) 2007 \"How To Land Your Dream Job\". You can have the job of your dreams. It takes application, attention and information to get you there, young or old. There's all you need to help you at Martin Haworth's website, How To Land Your Dream Job

Dial Up Telecommuting: Employer Benefits

As I mentioned before, I am bringing you relevant articles on why it is such a good idea to work at home. Telecommuting is very popular these days for a work from home platform, but this is is just one of the ways that you can work at home. Enjoy the article below and Good Luck!
~Mandu
Aspiring WAHM, Wife and Blogger
*********************************

Dial Up Telecommuting: Employer Benefits Telecommuting is a real viable option for people considering working from home. If this concept appeals to you, this next three part series should be of interest to you. While this one is created from the employer perspective, consider these benefits when presenting telecommuting to your bosses. If might make the option palatable to them.

What could your employees do if they were not stuck in traffic every single day for two or more hours? I'll bet you are probably stuck in that same workday traffic. There are plenty of executives, data entry personnel, and others who are clogging the roads every single day. But think about it, is physical presence at your company really required?

Sure, you need a data entry clerk, but does she have to sit at a desk every single day to receive her work assignments? Could they not just as easily be delivered by courier or mail? Perhaps you could cut down the amount of time that she spends in the office while giving her the opportunity to work at home.

If your mind is working in that general direction, then you are probably ready to contemplate telecommuting for the people in your office. As an employer, you know that there are numerous benefits for you. While almost everyone thinks about the many advantages this mode of work has for the employee, the other side is rarely considered. Here are some of the most obvious benefits to your operation and bottom line!

1. Save on space

Space equals money, and instead of expanding your operation every few years when new personnel needs to be hired on to keep up with the growth of your business, you will be able to continue leasing the same space without making costly renovations to cram more people into the small space.

Having a number of telecommuters working for you enables you to stagger the times when they come in and thus three to five workers can share one work station (A concept that used to be called hoteling)! While the initial cost of setting up several of your qualified employees to telecommute might be off-putting, consider the money you will save in facility related costs, and

you will break even very soon.

2. Software makes connections easy.

With the many software innovations, you will no longer have to attend long and drawn out meetings that take time away from the many tasks you could be performing. Instead, online meetings, conference calls, and group emails will permit you to continue your supervision of the projects that are outstanding while at the same time freeing up time for everyone who would

normally have to travel to meetings and take up time that could be better spent working on a task.

These are but two of the many facets that make up the advantages telecommuting can offer to the employers. Do not make the mistake of dismissing the idea immediately.

Here's another benefit that you might not considered: telecommuting may enhance hiring. With more and more people seeking a work life balance, you can offer them the option of office or home based work and attract better/more qualified people to your company.

You will need to make sure that the person to whom you entrust this kind of work is disciplined enough to handle it, but once you have found them, you will be sure to reap great benefits. 5 Simple Techniques to Work at Home Forever

Copyright © 2003, Sylvie Charrier
Author of “You Can Work in Your PJs

If you’ve spent any time online, you will already know that there are lots of scams out there! You might have even begun to doubt that there are any work-at-home positions available for serious jobseekers. If this sounds like you, you aren’t alone!

Believe me, there are real home based jobs, but what most of the work at home sites omit in their information packages is that it takes work to get work. Finding a telecommuting job can be a full time job in itself, but if you don’t have all the facts, you will be spinning your wheels trying to get somewhere or you will probably give up within a few weeks. That would be a shame, because there aren’t enough high quality telecommuters as it is!

Look, I know you’re skeptical. So was I, a few short years ago. That was before I started implementing some very unique strategies that allowed me to generate so much work from my small home office, that I needed to hire extra staff just to keep up with it all!

The strategies I used are actually very simple, and you can duplicate these ideas to become a very successful telecommuter. In fact, I want you to copy my techniques, even if it means I create my own competition! Why? Because every time a new person starts to work from home more successfully and efficiently, that means one more employer is happy with the concept of hiring homeworkers! That means everyone gets more jobs, and more opportunities to do what we all love to do…working at home in our pyjamas!

So, let’s cover the top 5 simple techniques you can use to work at home forever, shall we?

1. Never pay for any job! There is never a good reason to pay for work, and I am amazed at how many jobseekers waste precious time and money chasing after schemes that will never pay. It wastes a lot of time you could better spend targeting your jobsearch to legitimate and valid work.

2. Get your materials ready! You are going to need to be ready before you start looking for work. You will need a specialized telecommuter’s resume, an excellent cover letter template, and an online portfolio that showcases samples of your work. Without these things in place ahead of time, you will not be ready for rapid response when an employer needs to see your stuff.

3. Make sure you have all the equipment and software you’re going to need! Depending on your skill set, you’re probably going to need special software and equipment to do your job right. Don’t expect an employer to pay for these things. A prospective employer is more likely to hire the next person who is properly equipped, rather than hire you if you expect the employer to pay for what you need to do your job.

4. Know what you do for a living! This is an absolute necessity if you want to work from home. You may think that you want to do “typing at home”, but if that’s all you can think of, then you’re wasting time. Think about how your typing skills will be useful to your employer, come up with creative applications of that skill, set up samples to show what your service looks like, and plan ahead on how much you will charge for that service. Be willing to tell prospective employers exactly what you do and how much you charge for it.

5. Change your strategy! Instead of looking for jobs that have already been posted online, and have already been taken, look for companies that are well suited for your talents. Create your own work by contacting companies that have not yet posted jobs online, and eliminate the competition. But, make sure you know exactly what service you plan to offer that company, and why it is useful to them. Don’t bother contacting companies by sending vague resumes. That technique never works! Contact targeted companies with specific services in mind, and let them know you are open to alternate suggestions.

These techniques work extremely well, and using them allowed me to build my home based service company from scratch, without spending a dime on advertising. I was broke when I started working from home, and I didn’t have a computer. Using these techniques, I was able to slowly build my business and develop a client base that has consistently earned me more money than if I was working onsite. You can do it too!

What You Need to Get a New Job…Fast
By : Heather Eagar

It seems job hunting is one of the most stressful situations you can find yourself in. It’s probably because you’re miserable in your current job, you’ve been let go or you are at a crossroads in your career. Whatever the reason, you want – and need – a new job fast.

So what do you really need to make that happen? You have to have all your ducks in a row, so to speak. You can’t leave any part of your job search to chance. Let’s start at the beginning…

Finding the Right Career for You

Hopefully, this can mean doing what you love. Other times it’s doing what you believe in. Still others look for a job that doesn’t require a lot of overtime or travel so they can spend as much time with their family as possible. Whatever your motivation, it’s important to recognize that need while you’re job hunting.

If you find yourself wanting to change careers, know that it’s not too late. Research the career that you’re interested in to see if it’s a good fit. It’s also a good idea to review your skills and see if they are transferable to that career. You’d be surprised how often they are.

Getting Your Resume Package Ready to WOW

Your resume package is what gets you interviews. If you have an outstanding resume and cover letter, doors open that would otherwise be closed. This is your one chance to grab the employer’s attention. Make sure you do it the right way.

Your cover letter is an important aspect of your resume package and you should take your time in writing it. Many people think that it can be thrown together at the last minute and that just isn’t so. Well, it could be but you wouldn’t like the results! There’s really only one chance to make that first impression, as the saying goes. It applies to your job search as well.

Your cover letter can talk about things that don’t belong on a resume but is important for an employer to know. It’s an additional way for you to stand out from the other candidates. Whenever you have a chance to prove yourself, take it.

Your resume is also an essential document that acts as your own personal sales letter. Your strengths, skills and achievements have to be displayed so they are easy for the reader to take notice and want to call you in for an interview.

Your resume package is not the time to be modest. Show them what you have to offer. Make them think it’s a mistake not to talk to you further about the position.

Interview Like You Were Made For the Job

One of the most stressful parts of finding a job tends to be interviewing. Why? It could be because people don’t like being judged and that’s basically what an interview is. Are you qualified enough? Are you experienced enough? Can you bring enough to the position and really add value to the company?

Keep in mind that you need to be confident that this is the kind of company you want to be a part of. As you’re talking with them, try to envision what it would be like to work for or with them. If you don’t get a good feeling, then maybe you need to ask more questions or talk to more people in the organization to see if your intuition is correct. Not every company is for every person and you shouldn’t feel bad about turning down a job offer if you don’t feel it is a good fit.

Putting It All Together

Job hunting is usually never easy. Sometimes we wish that someone would call us out of the blue and offer us our dream job. Unfortunately, that only happens on TV. Just keep your eye on your goal – a new and better job – and arm yourself with the best job search tools out there. You’ll make it through just fine.

Earning Blogging Money

Good Morning Everyone,
How was your weekend? I am still trying to wake up from it, but am ready for business now:). I have been blogging since 2007 and didn't really take this seriously, until I started researching about blogging for money and also affiliate programs in general. Leslie explains this concept well, so that it is easier to understand and grasp exactly what I am talking about. Enjoy!

Sincerely,
